Jay and Kelli Unruh Story

When we moved to Johnson County two years ago, we immediately launched into a search for a new church home.  Several months later, we settled on a church that met our basic needs but didn’t fulfill our desire to join a close-knit church community.  Almost a year later, we found our way to Community Life Church. We were immediately struck by CLC’s desire to involve us and others in our church and our community.  We had found our new church home.

Since we have two preschool children, one of the biggest aspects of church life for us is children’s ministry.  It is so important for us that our children to have a safe place where they can have a fun time and learn about Jesus on Sunday morning.  Community Life provides this environment and more in KIDZLIFE-- we know that on Sunday mornings our kids are safe, loved and learning about Jesus. We love that every volunteer they come in contact with is reminding them that Jesus loves them & wants to be their friend forever. KidzLife teaches basic truths about God that we can reinforce at home, giving us fun ideas for incorporating Jesus into our kid’s daily routine.

Another important component of church life is community.  This was especially important when we joined CLC because we were relatively new to the area.   The CLC emphasis on community is more than just a name.  It is a way of life.  We were quickly approached about joining a community group (i.e. relevant Bible study and incredible food).  There we met other families with young children that were going through many of the life challenges that we face on a daily basis.  We have since branched out to start our own community group in conjunction with several other couples.  It is a joy to see new members get involved and share their life successes and struggles.

Throughout our spiritual life, we have learned that one of the most important aspects of our relationship with Christ is our relationship with the church community.  When we are connected to community, we feel more closely connected with God.  This acts to bolster our commitment to serve God and reinforce our desire to avoid giving in to temptation.  And, its just fun to have friends that truly care about our lives
