Anthony and Jennifer story

Anthony...

To be a part of Community Life is bigger than just being a part of something that makes you feel good. Being a part of Community Life's Strategic Service is about connecting with other people and making a difference in the lives of everyone around you. By volunteering together we form The Body of Christ in an environment of Joy, Passion, and Faith. This has helped me to further understand and continue to steer my decisions and actions in the right direction.

Something our pastor has said that always sticks in my mind is, “Be Christ centered, not crisis centered." This has had a great impact in my life. I struggle with the day to day lows and highs of life, just like everyone else. Being a part of CLC helps me get through my greatest challenges. It is working alongside this "family of followers" that helps create a comfortable, casual and ever-evolving way to seek a relationship through Christ that will have a lasting impact in the lives of everyone around us.

Jennifer...

The day I’m writing this I have a small cut on my pinky finger.  Now I’m no doctor, but Google tells me the moment it happened my body starting doing things like “vasoconstriction” and platelets and clotting proteins rushed to the scene of the cut to patch it up.  I never think about platelets or give them any credit besides now, but I desperately need them.  Scripture tells us “The way God designed our bodies is a model for understanding our lives together as a church: every part dependent on every other part…” -1 Cor. 12:25 (The Message)  We need each person in the body of Christ.  We may never think about the “how” or “why” but it is truth – you (and I) are needed.  This is one of the reasons I joined an area of Strategic service at Community Life Church.  It is a simple way I can fill a need to help the body of Christ be able to meet regularly together and reach out to those around us.

Currently, I am serving on the First Impressions team (as a greeter and an usher).  I may be one of the few people to see all the faces that come and go at Community Life.  As people walk by me, I might only have the opportunity for a smile and a “Hello”, but from my own past experience I know there are some who are smiling back yet hurting inside…or some who are feeling held back from their true potential in Christ…or some wanting a person to celebrate with them over the victories in their lives.  Being on the First Impressions team, and saying hello to those who come in the door, is a reminder to me to be aware of the lives of those around me.  Just as with the human body, in the Church body “If one part hurts, every other part is involved in the hurt, and in the healing. If one part flourishes, every other part enters into the exuberance.” -1 Cor. 12:26

It is a blessing to be invested in the members of Community Life through Strategic service.  I encourage you to consider the many areas where you can give as a significant part of the complex and fascinating body of Christ.
